In 2021, I went back to my Cross Lap Unit (CLU) from 2016 and folded this ampersand (&) character. The ampersand symbol, which is, strictly speaking, neither a letter nor a digit, stands for “and”, having an interesting history you can learn in the Wikipedia article.

While conceptually very simple (it consists of just a single CLU unit), this origami version required some precise design to get the proportions right while keeping the reference points for folding easy to construct. If you pinch the top half of the character, creating a sharp corner on the left, the outline becomes similar to than of a hen.
