Pentagonal Box (CFW 219)
This box is a little gem I found in Fujimoto’s book Twist Origami III. I had never seen a picture of this model before, and I had to do a bit of reverse-engineering in order to understand the instructions, but I love this box for its elegance, and it has pentagonal shape, which is not so common. If you fold from an A4 sheet, you can simplify the folding sequence quite a bit compared to Fujimoto’s instructions, using a sequence I devised. Using the simpler sequence, I was able to teach this box even to people with no prior origami experience. I think it makes a good teaching piece since it’s simple, but at the same time it features the shutter-like bottom so typical for Fujimoto’s style, and the bottom is closed using a really nice lock that resembles a button. If you skip the lock, the bottom will pop up a little, changing the box into a wine glass.
