Origami Coaster with Leaves (Stem-to-Stem)
After folding the first coaster with leaves, I wanted to try rotating the leaves so that in the center they touch stem-to-stem rather than tip-to-tip. This is the result. Later, I designed a box using the same decoration.
The object in the center is a piece of the Sikhote-Alin meteorite (meteorites are another of my hobbies besides origami). This is a complete specimen, 48 g. Sikhote-Alin is considered the largest witnessed fall of an iron meteorite and due to the large number of fragments found and their beautifully sculpted fusion crust, is very popular with collectors.
