Rocket (Michał Kosmulski)

This model is very simple to fold. The rocket can stand on its own thanks to the “foot”. You can also say this horizontal element represents the shadow cast by the rocket. Any kind of paper and any size will do, but for sheets larger than ca 40 cm it is better to use somewhat thicker paper.

Step 1
1. Start with a square, colored side up. Precrease both diagonals.
Step 2
2. Fold two corners to the center.
Step 3
3. Turn over.
Step 4
4. Fold the folded edges on the right and left to the central crease, without creasing the layer underneath.
Step 5
5. Fold corners to the center.
Step 6
6. Make the deepest layer thinner by valley folding its edges to the central line.
Step 7
7. Fold as shown to create the foot which will make the rocket stand on its own.
Step 8
8. Finished model, seen from the side. The foot can also be explained to be the rocket’s shadow.
Step 9
9. Finished model, seen from the front.
