Shuzo Fujimoto’s Death Anniversary
Today, July 28th, 2022, marks the 7th anniversary of Shuzo Fujimoto’s death. He was a pioneer of modern geometric origami, with great contributions in the field of origami tessellations. The picture shows him speaking at an origami event for kids in 1990, and he is indeed much younger than on the picture from 2006 I included with the previous post.
Here’s a progress update on the Fujimoto project:
- I continue work on the Catalog of Fujimoto’s Works and I’m slowly progressing towards the end of the last book. Apart from that, I introduced many fixes and resolved a number of doubts such as duplicated models or individual models erroneously treated as two. The number of models is currently around 370, not counting folded geometric constructions.
- I wrote some articles about Fujimoto, which, thanks to the help of origami friends, should appear in Fall issues of several origami magazines.
- Folding more models, staying in touch with a number of people interested in Fujimoto, etc.
